FAQs
Do I need previous Pilates experience?
Not at all! Our Mat Pilates classes are designed to be welcoming for beginners while offering options for those with previous experience. You're encouraged to move at your own pace and listen to your body.
Do I need to bring anything?
Please bring:
- A comfortable outfit that allows you to move freely
- A water bottle
- A yoga mat (if you have one)
If you don't have a mat, don't worry—we'll have one available for you.
Is Mat Pilates a workout?
Yes—but it's different from high-intensity exercise.
Mat Pilates focuses on controlled, mindful movement to improve core strength, posture, balance, flexibility, and overall body awareness. Many participants leave feeling stronger, taller, and refreshed.
Is Mat Pilates suitable for beginners?
Absolutely. Pilates is known for its adaptability. Exercises can often be modified to suit different abilities, making it an excellent choice for those just beginning their movement journey.
How is Mat Pilates different from Yoga?
While both practices encourage mindful movement and breathing, they have different focuses.
Yoga often combines movement, flexibility, balance, and relaxation while incorporating traditional yoga postures.
Mat Pilates emphasizes core strength, posture, controlled movement, spinal alignment, stability, and functional movement patterns.
Many people enjoy practicing both because they complement each other beautifully.
What are the benefits of Mat Pilates?
Regular practice may help improve:
- Core strength
- Posture
- Balance
- Flexibility
- Coordination
- Mobility
- Body awareness
- Overall functional movement
Many participants also appreciate the opportunity to slow down, focus on movement, and reconnect with their bodies.
Is Mat Pilates suitable if I have back pain or joint discomfort?
Many people find Pilates to be a gentle way to improve strength and mobility. However, every person is different.
If you have an injury, chronic pain, or a medical condition, we recommend speaking with your healthcare provider before beginning any new exercise program. Please let your instructor know before class so modifications can be offered when appropriate.
When will classes begin?
We're currently preparing our Mat Pilates program and finalizing the details.
